As we celebrate the passage of Issue 55, which ensures Cuyahoga Arts & Culture’s ability to make grants to nonprofits through 2035, you may be wondering: “What’s next for Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, and what does this win mean for the nonprofits that receive CAC funding?” In many ways, a new levy marks a new beginning for our public agency. At the same time, it’s an opportunity to continue on the path of providing more dependable, core funding to arts nonprofits.
While our community was coming together to secure a win, CAC spent this year reconnecting with and communicating our core purpose: making grants to nonprofit arts and cultural organizations, to the benefit of all Cuyahoga County residents.
With the leadership of our Board of Trustees, we anticipate our grantmaking in 2025 will be level with 2024. As we look ahead to a new 10-year levy cycle – we do so by building on our values: trust, discovery, connection, equity, service, and stewardship.
This work ahead includes you, our grant recipients. We aim to build off the robust Grantee Connect Series that hundreds of you participated in this year, using your ideas and candid feedback about what arts nonprofits need most, today.
In the meantime, we’re sharing answers to some of your frequently asked questions:
- What changes with the approval of Issue 55?
- When will grants be impacted by the new tax revenue?
- How can I receive funding from CAC?
- How can I get involved?
We look forward to continuing the conversation in the year ahead, as we begin receiving increased tax revenues and invite applications for 2026 funding.
