CLEVELAND (November 13, 2017) – Cuyahoga Arts & Culture (CAC) will invest $12,032,910 in grants to a record-number 258 nonprofit organizations in Cuyahoga County through its 2018 grant programs. The grants, which will support arts and cultural organizations and projects of all sizes throughout Cuyahoga County in 2018, were approved by CAC’s Board of Trustees during its public meeting on Monday.
“Cuyahoga Arts & Culture congratulates our 2018 grant recipients,” said Joseph P. Gibbons, president of CAC’s Board of Trustees. “We are proud to be investing these public dollars to connect residents to vibrant and diverse arts and cultural experiences throughout the next year.”
CAC’s General Operating Support program provides multi-year support grants to arts and cultural organizations based in and serving Cuyahoga County. Grants range from $11,000 to $1.1 million and support nonprofits that have a primary mission to provide arts or cultural services for the public.
The Project Support grant program promotes and encourages the breadth of arts and cultural programming in our community by funding projects both large and small throughout Cuyahoga County. Grants range from $1,000 to $30,000 and support a variety of programs and events.

Because of our community’s commitment to arts and culture, CAC is able to help hundreds of organizations bring their work to life across Cuyahoga County.”
Specifically, CAC granted:
- $10,200,000 for 61 organizations through General Operating Support, which provides core support for 501c3 nonprofit arts and cultural organizations based in Cuyahoga County.
- $1,757,910 for 196 organizations through Project Support, which offers grants up to $30,000 for 501c3 organizations providing arts and cultural projects to residents of Cuyahoga County.
In 2018, CAC will welcome 25 new organizations into its Project Support program, making new connections and supporting more projects that reach thousands of residents across Cuyahoga County.
Additionally, through a partnership with Neighborhood Connections, the small-grants and grassroots community-building program affiliated with The Cleveland Foundation, CAC will invest $75,000 to support more than 15 arts and culture projects in 2018 that are led by residents in Cleveland and East Cleveland. These co-funded projects connect residents and empower neighbors to make changes in their communities. Through this partnership, CAC has supported more than 285 resident-led projects since 2013.
All grants were approved in a public meeting of the Board of Trustees of Cuyahoga Arts & Culture at the Cleveland History Center in University Circle. CAC’s five board members voted <unanimously> to approve the grants, which were reviewed and scored by a national panel of experts in October.
