CLEVELAND (November 23, 2015) – Cuyahoga Arts & Culture (CAC) will invest $1,651,624 in grants to 152 nonprofit organizations in Cuyahoga County through its 2016 Project Support grant program. The grants—which will support arts and cultural projects in every corner of Cuyahoga County in 2016—were approved by CAC’s board of trustees during its public meeting and celebration on Monday.

“Cuyahoga Arts & Culture congratulates our newest grant recipients,” said Joseph P. Gibbons, president of CAC’s board of trustees. “We’re proud to support these vibrant arts and cultural projects that are sure to inspire our community in the coming year.”

The Project Support grant program promotes and encourages the breadth of arts and cultural programming in our community by supporting projects both large and small throughout Cuyahoga County. Grants range from $1,000 to $35,000 and support a wide variety of programs and events.

In addition to this grant program, CAC also makes grants through its General Operating Support program, which provides multi-year core support to arts and cultural institutions of all sizes. At its meeting, CAC’s board also affirmed its $12.7 million commitment to 58 organizations who currently receive funding through CAC’s General Operating Support program.

“We are thrilled to announce our largest cohort of project support grants to date,” said Karen Gahl-Mills, CAC’s executive director. “These grants support arts and culture in your backyard; neighborhood events, community concerts and festivals, and projects that all Cuyahoga County residents can enjoy.”

In October 2015, CAC convened independent arts and culture experts from outside Northeast Ohio to publicly evaluate and score each of the applications to the 2016 Project Support grant program. Learn more about CAC’s transparent grantmaking process.
