CLEVELAND (October 4, 2012) – Cuyahoga Arts & Culture (CAC) is pleased to announce a new grant program, Creative Culture Grants, in which CAC will award $150,000 each to two large-scale arts or culture events selected by residents through a public voting process.

Residents will be invited to vote for the projects that they want to see happen in their community during a public voting process in February 2013, and the projects or events will take place between March 2013 and August 2014. More details about the public voting process will be announced in the coming weeks.

“We at CAC are excited to launch Creative Culture Grants, and we look forward to inviting residents to participate actively in this program in February by voting for their favorite projects,” said Karen Gahl-Mills, executive director. “We hope that this program will inspire arts and culture organizations in Cuyahoga County to think big, work together and propose some creative projects.”

The grant program encourages collaboration between organizations by requiring applicants to apply together with at least one other partner. Lead Applicants to this program must have scored 80 or higher during CAC’s 2013-14 General Operating Support Panel Review (to be held October 8-10, 2012), and they are required to work with at least one Project Partner organization, as defined in the application.

Organizations will be able to apply for the grant program beginning Thursday, November 1, and information about the application is available now on CAC's website. Applications are due on Thursday, December 13, at 4:30 p.m. ET.

In January 2013, a panel of independent arts and culture experts from outside Northeast Ohio will review and score the applications in an online panel process. The top-scoring projects will go to a public vote: in February 2013, residents will be invited to vote (online and by mail) for their favorite projects among the finalists. The public votes will then be compiled, and CAC’s board will announce which two projects have won the popular vote and at its regular meeting on Monday, February 25.
