Cuyahoga Arts & Culture announces that Joseph P. Gibbons, Esq. and Eliza Wing have been appointed, and Steven A. Minter has been reappointed, to serve on Cuyahoga Arts & Culture’s Board of Trustees. Mr. Gibbons will fill a vacancy for an unexpired term ending March 31, 2015, and Ms. Wing will fill a vacancy for a term commencing April 1, 2014, and ending March 31, 2017. Mr. Minter has been reappointed to CAC’s board and will serve a term commencing April 1, 2014, and ending March 31, 2017.
Both Mr. Gibbons and Ms. Wing were nominated for reappointment by County Executive Ed FitzGerald and confirmed for reappointment by the Cuyahoga County Council on February 25. They were formally sworn in as members of the Board of Trustees at CAC’s annual meeting on Monday, April 21, 2014. Mr. Minter was nominated for reappointment by Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald and reappointed by the Cuyahoga County Council on April 8.

Joseph P. Gibbons, Esq., who currently serves as partner in the Cleveland law firm Schneider, Smeltz, Ranney & LaFond P.L.L., practices in the areas of business law, estate and business succession planning, estate and trust administration, real estate and probate litigation. He served as a member of Lakewood City Council from 1992 to 1995; is a current member of, and a past president of, the Lakewood Civil Service Commission; was chairman of the Board of Directors of Lakewood Catholic Academy and was a member and officer of the Board of Trustees of the Lakewood Hospital Foundation. Mr. Gibbons is currently a member of the Lakewood Hospital Board of Trustees. Mr. Gibbons is an alumnus of John Carroll University and the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and resides in Lakewood with his wife, Peggy.
Eliza Wing, director, digital brands for American Greetings, has worked in the interactive space for nearly 20 years, working at the internet’s first book store, books.com, as editorial director in 1994. She moved on to become the founding editorial director and, then, president and CEO of cleveland.com until 2010. Prior to her online experience, Ms. Wing was focused on editing and writing, with positions at Rolling Stone and New York Woman. Her writing has appeared in those publications as well as Self, Elle Magazine, Redbook and The Boston Phoenix, among others. An artist by avocation, Ms. Wing paints in oil and has had work accepted in local juried shows. She is currently co-chair of The United Way’s Women Leadership Council and serves on the local advisory board for U.S. Bank. She is also a member of In Counsel With Women and The Fifty Club. Ms. Wing received the Rainmaker Award in 2007 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Northeast Ohio Rriot Girl Award in 2008. Ms. Wing resides in Bay Village with her husband, Dennis. She has two sons, Arthur and Christopher Henke.
Steven A. Minter was appointed Executive-In-Residence at Cleveland State University in September 2003, following his retirement after 28 years from The Cleveland Foundation. At Cleveland State he assists the President in strengthening collaborative relationships between the university and community and is a Fellow, Center for Nonprofit Policy and Practice, Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs. He served as President and Executive Director of The Cleveland Foundation, the nation’s first community foundation, from 1984 until his retirement in July 2003. Outside the Foundation, he spent over 15 years in governmental positions. This includes service as the first Under Secretary for the United States Department of Education under President Jimmy Carter; Commissioner of Public Welfare for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; and Director of the Cuyahoga County Welfare Department. Mr. Minter has served on and/or chaired boards of numerous national and regional organizations and corporations.
Cuyahoga Arts & Culture is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of five members which serve rotating three-year terms. Board members are appointed by the Cuyahoga County Executive and confirmed by Cuyahoga County Council. All meetings are open to the public, and members of the community are welcome to attend.
